Hi there,
Just looking for advice regarding a cheap yet decent projector for powerpoint presentations & good enough to watch the odd DVD. And if it's quiet, even better. Personal purchase, but will be used for BSAC training, so help in making the right choice would be much appreciated.
What would you recommend? What would you avoid?
Thanks
Jens

Over the last two years I have purchased a number of projectors for my school. I can't comment too much on brands etc but we have found the projectors with 1500ANSI Lumens has worked well in rooms as long as their is not too much direct sun light. It is always worth checking out the price of new bulbs. They cost a few hundred pounds to replace!

How much use do yours get and how many bulbs have you replaced after what kind of usage?
I know the bulbs can be very pricey, but I'm not sure if this is a red herring for most clubs. I suspect the amount of times the thing is switched off incorrectly is the biggest problem.

I have bought many projectors in the past few years and they are changing from month to month so you should be able to get a decent one cheapish!
www.projectorcentral.com is an excellent site for advice and reviews.

"Staples" do a few from around £500 to £900, and you can save another £100 on occasions if you buy a laptop at the same time, so you can get a projector and IBM laptop for around £800 - new, boxed and guaranteed. Perfect for a club.

Take a look at ebuyer.co.uk...they arlways deliver to me on time...and I have had no problems with anything.
They've got a hitachi on offfer,
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=96227
for £460 inc VAT, and do the replacement bulbs for it too.
It is fairly bright - but not too high on graphics quality output, similar to a laptop. But I'm not endorsing anything they sell....it is your choice, and depends on your budget! the good thing with ebuyer though, they give a detailed specification page for most of the products, so you can compare them against each other.
Hope this helps!

Bee n using the HP, as I posted earlier, for a couple of months now. I must say it's fantastic. Picture qulity for video and graphics is excellent as is for presentations. USB allows quick connect and immediate use of remote. Even when projecting onto a coloured wall, the projected white remains white!!
Well impressed!
