Hi to all,

I just taught that I should take this issue up with divers in the British Isles. Maybe some of you are aware of this issue.
I have lived in the USA and have known that Scubapro there gives a different warranty there than in Europe. It is supposed to be a Worldwide entity, is it not.

Currently, It's running a promotion on scubapro equipment issuing rebates from anywhere from $40 to $100 for purchasing their equipment there. Anyway, this is not the current issue.

It's to do with the Free Batteries for Life program and the Free Parts for life program, something that doesn't carry here for some reason, again the question is, are we being ripped off?

Here is a copy of the letter that I have sent to both countries warranty departments.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Can you explain to me how that when Scubapro is one entity worldwide, how come the USA, Canada and territories have a better warranty package.

Surely, it should carry worldwide, are your customers in UK and Ireland not worthy of these special warranty packages i.e.,
1. free Preferred Parts Replacement Program (Card is given to customer when purchases scubapro product)
2. free Batteries For Life Program

Please see following links:

<a href="http://www.scubapro.com/registration/savings_matrix.pdf" >http://www.scubapro.com/registration/savings_matrix.pdf</a>

I trust scubapro equipment and buy it all the time, it's trully superior to other brands but are we getting ripped of.

Please could you comment on these points and maybe take it up with your superiors. I am sure a lot of customers will become aware of this issue.

Yours sincerely, Ron Marks.

Just thought that I would let all members know who have bought scubapro equipment, Cheers Ro.

And the reply was? I suspect that it was along the lines of the differing territorial law that relate to warranties, honouring them and transferring them. The EU have different regulations to the US territories and companies providing goods and services within the EU have to comply with EU regulations. For example, I believe that the clause in the US warranty limiting it to authorised dealers only is not enforceable within the EU, so Scubapro have chosen to remove that ?free for life? part outside of the US as they cannot enforce it as they would wish to.

Your problem is with the EU, not with Scubapro.

Thanks Keith,

I have got no reply yet, only sent today. Yes, you are probably right on the EU legislation.

How does it work out on postage? if its cheaper to keep sending back then buy in the states and mail it back to the "dealer" for your parts, presumably where it is actually used is not going to be regulated mind you the Yanks tried that with DVDs...Hey Ho!
