Qualification Dives Sign Off

Greetings.

We were looking to sign off some qualification dives for Dive Leader the other night.

Could someone please clarify if an instructor has to be present on the actual dive or on the trip? Or at the othger end, can it be another member of the club who can vouch for the dive and the instructor then signs it off. I appreciate that the latter is pushing it.

The DTP manual that we had at the time wasn't that clear.

IMHO, for pages 17, 18 & 20 an Instructor should be a part of the dive and sign; for page 19 anyone could have been part of the dive and signed the logbook so long as a club Instructor trusts them enough to then sign afterwards.
