Like the title says - this has just happened to me.

I waded through VR technologies phone systme and online help the end result of which was a boiler plate email to me to send it off and for the princely sum of 45+VAT they would look at it.

So my question is - Is it really a service job or could they just send me the part for me to fit myself? If so, how do I speak to a human being at VR?

Also - has this happened to anyone else? Fortuinately it was at Capernwray on a bimble, but it would have meant falling back onto tables on a deep dive as no gas switching :-( I resent anything that keeps me from my post dive tea and biscuits.

Iain.

Black button broken in half around the join over the magnet? It's happened to mine.

Get a replacement from a dive shop that stocks them. Remove holding clip, the remaining part should fall out, put in new one, replace clip.

Not a service job. Not a bad idea to remove the clips and wash out from time to time, I've notice they can get a bit gritty even after trying to wash out.

And the left hand button is a different length to the right hand one so make sure you get the right one.

Personally I keep a spare pair of buttons and springs in my spares box

The pack including two buttons and the springs cost around £15, the springs tend to work loose after a while so tuck a small peice of tape over the ends to hold them in place

making sure you do not cover the small hole close to the strap
