Hi all

A couple of months ago some of you may have read the article in Dive magazine “Geared up for Gigha”, were members from Mid Lancs SAC, SUDS & MUSAC undertook an expedition to the island of Gigha (just off the west coast of Kintyre, Scotland). Also, presentations regarding “Operation Sunrise” (as the expedition was entitled) where made at the 2010 North West Regional Conference and the 2009 Diving Officers Conference where I received BSAC’s expedition award for organising the event.

We did state in the magazine article & the various presentations that we would be returning to Gigha in 2010 to dive some of the previous sites & investigate new ones. Well due to an unforeseen business commitment, one of our returning team members has had to drop out of the expedition leaving a spare place.

Would you like to join us on the return trip ?

Dates: - Sat 4th Sept until Sat 10th Sept 2010
Cost: £330 (ish, depends on fuel costs / unforeseen expenses)

Included:
Accommodation (self catering), 6 days rib diving, gas (including nitrox), transportation of expedition equipment to Gigha, transportation of personal dive equipment Gigha (assuming you can get & collect your dive equipment from Wigan before and after the event)

Min Diving qualification;
Experienced Sports Diver, min of 50 logged sea dives, significant logged experience of diving to depths 25 – 35m & dives that include mandatory decompression.

Expectations;
This is NOT a diving holiday, this IS expedition diving arguably at its best, and you will be expected to help out and work as part of a team.
We can not guarantee anything about the expedition other than it will be an adventure, but if last year is anything to go by; it was fantastic, 20m vis, stunning ship wrecks & marine life with more basking sharks than we could shake a stick at…

If you are interested in coming along, leave a reply on this thread or send me a PM (private message)

Best regards

Andy Bennett
