Hi all,

Do any clubs provide Nitrox and trimix to members?

If so what set up do you have and have you experienced any difficulties inc unforseen costs etc

Your advice would be greatly appreciated

My old branch had nitrox using PP blending. Had I stayed in the UK it would now have Tx as well!!

All you need is a whip and Js of gas.

Your air needs to be O2 clean or you need more filters.

I can't see any problems or hidden costs provided you don't blend for other people in which case there might be insurance problems. Also storage of the O2 has implications in terms of buildings insurance. Letting unqualified people blend is a bad idea for the same reason!

BTW the law applies to clubs the same as shops in terms of tank testing etc. However, the O2 sticker requirement is not a legal issue so you can make your own mind up on that one.

Hi Steve

Set-up at our club:
1. Extra filter on compressor - paid for by club
2. 2 x J cylinders - rental paid by club
3. 1 x O2 decanting whip - paid for by club
4. 1 x O2 analyser (Analox) - paid for by club

Nitrox divers (currently) pay a "Nitrx Levy" of ?15 - that entitles them to unlimited (personal) Nitrox.

Levy set by calculating cost of O2 for previous year divided by number of "nitrox divers"

At present we have 3 (4?) qualified blenders - each of whom paid for the course themselves

We did it this way so that we:
1. weren't arguing about "who had what"
2. weren't collecting the money before/after fills
3. encouraging people to dive on Nitrox, i.e. once you've done the course, had your kit (where necessary) put into O2 service its cheap... One twinset (say 32%) plus 1 stage (say 50%) plus cost of drive to a commercial fill station is about ?15, therefore all susequent fills are free
