Only down side is that you can not change the battery.

UWATEC brought out a newer model. Max depth of 330 metres or something like. The older ones (99 metres) started to find there way onto Ebay quite cheaply.
I think?

True, but the thing gives you at least 1,000 dives before packing it in. That's probably about 600 more than when most divers would be looking at "more modern" equipment anyway. My last one did about 1,300 dives and is still going strong.

This divetimer is showing at £69.
i recently bought a new Gekko for £130 for use as a back up. It might be worth spending the extra?

Depends on the diving you are doing - for me a Gekko would be permanently bent. I personally use a Vytec as my backup so I can put it in gauge mode

The extra...that is almost twice the price, I picked up two of the uwatec BTs on E bay for 30 quid each, they are still going strong and get wet nearly every weekend.
100 dives per year for ten years is what they base the battery life on, the majority of divers get no where near this figure so I would add 30% onto the battery life, just make sure it is dry when you store it so it turns off.
