I've got a BSAC 'Club Diver' qualification - according to what I've read, this title has now been phased out. What is the equivalent of this and how do I update it? What does this qualification entitle me to do?

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ross

Hi Ross,
you'd be able to dive as an Ocean Diver, i.e max 20m.
I haven't got my paperwork here, but I guess you could be exempt from some bits of Sports Diver training, as CD included stuff that's not in OD e.g. compass training & use of SMB.

Have a look at the link below for transition information.

Remember that from the end of this year there will be no transitions allowed, all training will have to be on the new sylabus, regardless of previous training.

Sorry my mistake, no quals issued on the old scheme, but can still corss over to new scheme.

It's probably worth reinforcing at this point that you don't "need" to do anything - you are still a club diver and that will not be taken away from you!

It's well worth advancing your diving though, not only to give you the ability to dive more exciting locations but also to look after your buddy better in the event of a mishap.

The next qualification you need to look at is Sports Diver - in the "new" scheme. Good luck!
