View Full Version : Anodised alloy tank valve knob ??
Hello guys. Does any one know if you can buy anodised alloy tank valve knobs.? I've just changed all my hoses to miflex and are looking pretty sweet but wanted to add that extra bit of style with the above mentioned. I used to race rc cars and trucks years ago and you could get evry nut and bolt imaginable in anodised blue, purple, black and green so wandered if anyone had started to make scuba parts the same. Any info greatly apreciated:)
You really don't want to do that as in salt water, it corrodes and welds itself to the surrounding metal causing untold misery and swearing.
The anodised aluminium DIN valve plugs you get are a prime example- screw them in when you put your cylinder away then when you get them out, they're completely stuck in and have to be drilled out.
What you want are some Sherwood rubber knobs. They're ace.
Ho woz thanks for reply. That why I made the post just in case something could go drasticly wrong and looks like it would. These sherwood knobs. Are they couloured?? I just want something fancy isntead of the standard black ones that are on my cylinders now. Thanks

You want the long rubber black ones.
Not chav ones :D You'll be putting blue running lights down your cylinder next ;)
Just been thinking about this post. To my knowledge there is already an anodised alloy part on the Market. Not sure what make but it's a pink "halo" for twins. So do t think it would corode in salt water or they wouldn't already make stuff. As to the fitting the know only fits over a shaped sleeve so there would be no moving part effected by the slat water/anodised corrosion effect. Just a thought :)
And if you have switched to Miflex, make sure your HP hose comes with the strain relief on them. Or they can go pop.
Blue running lights. !! Now there's an idea. I would be easy to locate if lost by buddy lol. I'll have a look into the sherwood knobs but it's got to be blue not green. Just like things to be that bit different than the norm. As I said when I raced cars I must of been running about £600 worth a blue anodised monster (practical and looked the part) so want to give my dive kit the same care and attention to detail lol :)

Hmmm, shark-bait, now there's a thought. What is the voltage and frequency of those underwater running lights?
:D
