I suspect a leaking dump valve and wanted to check it out. How do you get the bugger off?

I believe I have to depress the low profile dump valve before unscrewing - but it is stuck fast, im hoping it is'nt a reverse thread!

help.

The standard ones are a standard thread, the bit inside the suit just unscrews but they can bind to the rubber a bit and be very tight. The problems I've had (and with inflate valves) is that they sometimes dribble leak down the threads - I've found that PFTE tape (plumbers tape) on the threads works wonders but YMMV.

If its a 'new' one be very carefull they are very easy to break, I believe dive shops have a special tool. Alternatively get rid of it, get a normal high profile, a mark 2 low profile or a SciTek one, all are better (imho) than the mk1 low profile dump valves. I had one, re-badged, on my Oceanic, it was rubbish, although some people like them. I broke it trying to get it off, it was leaking water anyway so no great loss.
