Hi can any one tell me if the ITDA 2** Diver is the same as the Ocean/Club Diver.

I would have thought that it was higher given the information I have managed to find on <a href="http://www.itda.net/sports.htm" >http://www.itda.net/sports.htm</a>

ITDA 2** Star Diver: 3 Pool Sessions (Skills Review & New Skills), 6 Open Water Dives, 2 of which must be decompression dives. Below 40m. and two of which must Rescue skills orientated. Skills must be practiced and advanced from the 1*Star level. A minimum of 2 Deco Stops must be made on all dives below 30m. Deco at 9m and 6m. (To table rules and Over) Introduction to use of pony bottles for up to 40% Nitrox Deco Mix.

Academics / Theory: Advanced Decompression Theory, Equipment, , Signalling devices, Dive Safety, Advanced Nitrox, Surface Support, Dive Planning, Advanced Dive Medic Program must be completed.

Timescales: Dives may be conducted 3 per day, (Minimum Interval 60mins) 2 Days total. Academics and Dive Medic. 2 Days.

Course Program 4-5 Days.

I would suggest contacting HQ to confirm where it would crossover to.

The site also shows a BSAC Sport Diver xover to ITDA 3***, so by default a ITDA 2** can only be 'equivalent' to BSAC Ocean Diver (not the same as).

You did better at me at finding that from the ITDA site. Where abouts did you find that?

Basing on what I can read from the ITDA site, 2* would be a second level qualification and would include rescue skills , so I would expect that it would count as Sports Diver equivalent, but I would still run it by Ellesmere Port to check what they class it to be

Hi dave

Its under "See our Equal certification page"

at <a href="http://www.itda.net/equal_to.htm" >http://www.itda.net/equal_to.htm</a>

You are right 2** is a ITDA second level qualification, but its their star system that is being used not the CMAS one.

BSAC Sport is equal to ITDA 3***, the ITDA third level qualification.

As a point of interest both BSAC SD and DL are CMAS 2**.

I am aware that it is their own star rating, but by looking on the description of the qualification on their qualification page ( as shown in earlier post ) it would seem to be a level 2 qualification. On the page you posted the link to, it describes the same qualification as being their 3* qualification and the 2* to just be an open water qualification ( you will only see this if you hightlight the text which is otherwise white on white )

I am not at all impressed with ITDAs web site; hardly portrays a high quality
