Having been invited to do the Practical Rescue Management SDC as part of a training weekend I set off to find out what was involved and, as the BSAC site was down with this Redbus debacle, I found a club's site with details and the alternatives that are acceptable...

<a href="http://www.dolphinsac.org.uk/diving/learn/sdc" >http://www.dolphinsac.org.uk/diving/learn/sdc</a>

Excellent, thought I, I can "SALT" across my DAN O2 Provider to Oxygen Administration, my PADI Medic First Aid/Emergency First Response to First Aid For Divers and my PADI Rescue Diver to Practical Rescue Management then concentrate on something else on the training weekend...

...however...

...the two links on the BSAC website not only have different information but are also contradictory...

HTML - <a href="http://www.bsac.org/techserv/tecpuba5.htm" >http://www.bsac.org/techserv/tecpuba5.htm</a>
PDF - <a href="http://www.bsac.org/techserv/A5.pdf" >http://www.bsac.org/techserv/A5.pdf</a>

O2 Admin
HTML says no to all DAN quals
PDF says no to DAN O2 provider but yes to DAN Advanced O2 Provider

First Aid For Divers
HTML says yes to PADI Medic First Aid
PDF says no to PADI Medic First Air
(Neither mention the newer Emergency First Response)

Practical Rescue Management
HTML and PDF say no to PADI Rescue Diver

Can anyone explain the inconsistencies? The stuff from DolphinSAC is easily explained by an infrequently updated website, however I'm curious to know why the various Alternatives I could have used have been delisted...

Cheers

Look at the dates.
One is 03 the other PDF (and latest) is 04.
Standards and course content do change.
Eg. Upto 4 years ago BSAC accepted PADI rescue for PRM.
PADI revamped rescue, BSAC took another look and changed
it to Divemaster = PRM.

So some you win (like accepting DAN) and some (like PRM)
you loose.

Typical - I read that as being this month rather than May 2003 and assumed that it was a clever bit of software to ensure that the copyright was always up to date...

I'm still quite curious to know which bits of the revisions caused the downgrading.

Nope, I've only got DAN O2 not DAN Advanced O2 - so all I lose! :(
