What would you do if you new that a BSAC club was not being honest with the training they where giving. I have a feeling that a BSAC club are signing of training without a qualified instructor on site.

First of all, I'd be extremely careful how I was interpreting what I may or may not have seen. If I only "had a feeling", I'd not be saying I "knew a club was not being honest" at all and certainly not in public.

Many instructors are friendly beings (yes, really) and it is not unknown for them to be members of more than one Branch or that they swap students, to bring variety and a new approach to their training. So, while for example I may turn up with Sandra, Jamie and Peter, I may perhaps meet Richard and agree to take Dave and Andrew from him while we agree that 'his' Julie should buddy with 'my' Sandra. Neither Richard nor I would appreciate your remarks.

[I hasten to add that I have no knowledge which clubs may concern you and that all names except mine are taken at random from a list not connected with BSAC.] As a BSAC volunteer OWI, as well as inter-Branch collaboration such as described, I have assisted and even stood in for PADI CDs on more than one occasion. (It is a big planet and UK prejudices don't wash in much of it.)

Hi,

Firstly as Mike has said, be carefull of what you repeat in public.

My advice, if you are a member of the club, raise your concerns with the DO/Lead Instructor, if not then dont get involved.

A BSAC club will have a committee. You could try putting the item on the agenda for the next meeting..

Unfortunately if its like most clubs most of the committee will be very good friends with everyone else on it and you're unlikely to get an impartial hearing that way.

If this is how you feel then your first course of action should be to log dates, times, details and individuals concerned and bring it to the attention of the club. There may well be a perfectly valid explanation that you have overlooked.
Without any recorded details though, you are on dodgy ground.
If you are found to be correct then the club should take measures to address the situation. If they don't, then you will have grounds to take up the matter with HQ.
