No, not what you thought, but i'm in desperate need of the older
CEJN type drysuit nipples as fitted to Apeks valves.

The ones like this.

If anybody has any lying around that they are never going to use
again i'd be very grateful and show that by making a donation to
the RNLI.

Thanks Hamish, thats a bit better than the £4.50 each I was looking at.

I'm trying to harmonise the club drysuits at the moment and while it seems
i'm being a bit of a cheapskate, its a bit different when you've got over 10
that need the CEJN fitting.

With so many using the same Seatec fitting as the LP inflator now, I thought
there would be a fair few of these doing nothing and could give them a home :D

I've got one you can have - it's currently in an Apeks non-swivel valve and there are two hoses to go with it. You're welcome to any or all of them or just the nipple if that's all you want.

Ooo thanks a lot Iain, you have a pm :D

I think I might have one. it looks very similar but you said it was an old type. which makes me think it might not be. I got it on my new drysuit just before Christmas and changed it as I like all my nipples to be the same, if you know what I mean.:o

Anyway send an address & I'll post it.

Ron.

Come on BSAC'ers, you must have the odd one lying in a drawer somewhere
and you just know you are not going back to a CEJN fitting and change
hoses again.

They will be going to a good home - honest :D

I'd just like to give a public thank-you to Ron and Iain for donating some
nipples :D

Iain even went as far as putting in some hoses and a valve, so double
thanks there.

I'm still a few short though to have the non-hose swapping hassle free
dream of all the same fitting on the cliub suits, so if anybody still has them
kicking around i'd love to have them.

Remember its the older CEJN fittings that i'm after. If you've swapped
your rig to the latest version then what you gonna do with the old stuff?

If you are like Iain and want to throw in hoses as well, even better ;)

Donation to the RNLI once the dust has settled.

I don't suppose anyone has the industrial reference for the Seatec type, do they? That would be incredibly handy.

Oh and be aware the industrial nipples are plated steel, not brass, so they'll rust to buggery.

I went through the same loop last year and changed all drysuit nipples to match I went the other way so I have some left, but without going down to the club store I think they have a larger hole in the centre, does that make them the new CEJN

The advantage of your way is its easy hose reconnection after the disconnect exercise, ie just push on.

I went Seatec because we had more and it was a cost minimisation exercise
with club funds

Yes same reason, we have more CEJN hoses/nipples than the Seatec type,
so went with the cheaper option. There was other logic in there as well
that while CEJN hoses mostly have the larger ferule, easier to get off with
a gloved hand, a lot of the Seatec hoses are standard LP and not drysuit.

You also get the "wing-nut" type, which are bloody awful TBH.

The shorter stubby ones, with the single hole are the CEJN ones and exactly
what we want, so if you have any nipples or even hoses spare next time you
are down the kit store :D

There is a side-issue here with students that have bought a second-hand
drysuit (seatec fitting), but use club regs, so the hose has to be changed.
Forget once and the hose is buggered. A lot easier to make them all CEJN.
