Due to work being carried out on the HQ systems there will be some minor periods of disruption on Thursday when emails to and from @bsac.com email addresses will be affected. Nothing should be lost but there will be periods when HQ are unable to access the internet or email and our mailing lists will not be instantly responding. Our web sites will not be affected by this work.
I would like to apologise on behalf of the BSAC for any inconvenience that this work causes. The work being undertaken is to improve the resilience and reliability of the HQ systems and to provide us with some additional facilities, it is part of a plan to improve the services to our members.
Kind Regards
Keith Lawrence

Best laid plans and all of that :-(
All of the @bsac.com email seems to be down. You will get failure messages along the lines of -
"Sorry, I couldn't find any host named mal1.bsac.com"
This isn't us, what has happened is that MessageLabs seem to have screwed up a change to the settings on their server. I'm onto it now.
Email is =NOT= getting through, it is being rejected. I'll post again when I know more.

Unbelievable :-( I wont go into the gory technical details but MessageLabs made =TWO= typing errors when making a change for us. This was despite a FAX and a phone call explaining EXACTLY what was needed. The change should have been transparent, instead it's knocked our email out in a way that we cant fix ourselves.
I have been onto their technical support in the States, I've also been onto our account manager in the UK. We are now waiting for the correct settings to be updated onto the MessageLabs system. This would normally take anything up to 24 hours, I am trying to get an emergency change made to the London MessageLabs system to get us back quicker.
Sorry about that, totally beyond our control and not our fault, I'm doing what I can to get us back running again.
