Over recent days there have been periods when the BSAC web sites have not been available. There was one that I know of on Friday afternoon, another late Sunday evening. These outages normally last for a few hours or so.
These outages are not caused by us or by our systems, they are general faults at our supplier (Easily) and have affected many of their customers. What is actually happening is that Easily?s network has been the subject of several Denial Of Service (DoS) attacks, this has seriously affected their network and made our web server appear to be unavailable.
The IT Team have been aware of problems with this particular supplier for some time. We are currently looking at all aspects of how we provide web services to the BSAC and we hope to be bringing you a brand new web server with much higher resilience in the first part of 2005.
All that I can do is apologise and ask you to bear with us, we are aware of the problems and are doing all that we can to find ways around them and provide the club with much better IT facilities for the future.
