Next year is the 25th Anniversary of the Bramston Sub Aqua Branch located in Witham, Essex. I'm trying to put a potted history of the branch together, and would like to hear from anyone with recollections of the branch since it was created.

If anyone has any stories or information then I'd be delighted to hear from you).

Thanks.

Hi Bill

If you're planning any special events for your 25th and want somebody from Council/NDC/HQ to come along then please ask via HQ. We normally try and get somebody out to you if you want a visit, especially for something like a 25th Anniversary.

You might however draw the short straw and end up with me - I'm just down the road from you in Stansted :-)

p.s. That goes for ANY branch who wants a visit for any reason. Just ask and we'll try to get somebody out to you.

Keith,

If we'd known about this arrangement earlier we'd have invited you or someone else from Council/NDC/HQ along to our 50th bash this year.

Not sure we could have afforded to reimburse you the travel expenses though :o)

Well - there are limits. :-) BUT... Council are a fairly mobile crowd in their real lives let alone for the BSAC, plus of course we do occasionally visit our friends in Japan, or somebody might be on a stopover... You can only ask - if there's somebody around in your neck-of-the-woods anyway then it becomes practical to do a branch visit even to Hong Kong!

I can't promise anything obviously Tristan, we'd need to look at the logistics and the costings, but it may be worth you lodging a "next time somebody is around" type of request with HQ. The worst that can happen is nothing, the next worst is finding somebody on your club doorstep saying "hi! I was in the area..." [Let's just say that there's a few clubs around my patch and elsewhere within the UK that have had that dubious experience ;-)].

Cheers

:=Keith,

Keith,

I'll pass this onto our Committee. Out of curiosity from an HQ point of view, what would they be able to tell me about our branch over the last 25 years?

Regards.

Not a lot. Our electronic membership records only go back to 1990, this data is only the 'snapshot' of information as supplied by the Membership Secretary at renewal time.

Prior to that I believe that things were handled manually. We do not retain detailed paper records of club membership is this is in the hands of the branch Membership Secretary.

So sorry Bill - we can't be of much help to you on that one.

Keith,

Thanks. I'm not really looking for detailed memberhips records, I think I'll get this from the branch archive records. What I'm thinking more of is confirmation of the date on which we officially became a branch, and whether there is any detail about the formation that BSAC HQ can supply.

Regards.

Hi Bill,
Its worth a quick email to HQ. I emailed them recently for similar details as my club is in its 30th year in 2005. They were able to send back info detailing when the club was first registered and who the members and committee members were.
The information was actually a photocopy of the application to form a BSAC branch.

I hope that HQ can help you out on this one.

Rob

Sorry, another plea!

Has anyone got BSAC sponsored magazine (I beleive it was Trident then)from 25th years ago? If they have and would be prepared to scan it in and send it to me, or to photocopy it and send me a copy that would be very much appreciated. I'd like to pick things up from 25 years ago and use it in the potted history.

If anyone can help that would be useful.

Thanks for any help.
