Fear scuba lagoon will cause traffic problems

One of my southern leaks has sent me this: :o

Villagers in Hambrook, near Emsworth Sussex, are concerned about traffic chaos as thousands of people are predicted to visit the new facility.

The proposal is for a 60ft deep lagoon, up to 220ft wide, at Hairspring Watercress Farm, in Hambrook Hill South

The Scales family, who have run the farm for more than a century, have proposed the scheme.

The proposed access is along a bridleway over the A27, but residents fear sat navs and careless drivers will cause the other access through Hambrook Hill South to become blocked with parked cars

support from them. It is though very much in the early stages, so dont
expect things to happen that rapidly.

Local consultations will be neccessary and there will be objections, traffic
being just one.

The max depth proposed is 18.5m.

We were at the new Chamber on Wed night and very nice it is too, but
ever since Haslar was wound down it was on the cards they'd move.

You've got one at Poole and another smaller one at QA Havant, both
attached to A&E departments, so looking for a new home, logic says go East
and thats why it's now tied in with the A&E dept at Chichester.

Please note though that it is not an RN chamber, it's a private one run
by Qnetic, but does deal with RN cases. Also worth a reminder that going
straight to any chamber isnt the best of ideas, even if you know where one
is, you should always ring 07831 151523 first.

A controversial planning application for a scuba diving lagoon in Hambrook near Chichester has been withdrawn - but the applicant has promised to return.

Mr Scales, whose family own the watercress farm adjacent to where the lagoon is planned said: "we were in Egypt for two weeks, and the ash cloud came up halfway through". "I simply couldn't be here, I wasn't prepared to let it go ahead"

The withdrawal has also given him time to address concerns from the Environmental Agency.
