At a meeting at Swansea Uni on Sunday 17th of October a vote was taken by the branches present as to whether or not the divers of Wales wished to see the Welsh Association of Sub aqua Clubs (WASAC) continue or not.
17 clubs present voted for WASAC, 1 club voted against. In addition some clubs abstained.
An interim executive were voted on for a 6 month period to revive the association.
They are:
Bill Trezise as the Chair
Mario Demaria as the Vice Chair
Colin Deller as the Secretary
Martin Bayon as the Treasurer
Stephen Thompson as the Equipment Officer
Beth Heaton representing North Wales
& myself as the Diving Officer
During the executive meeting following the nominations a number of preliminary points were decided on.
1. No subs shall be collected until 01/04/05. The executive feel that the WASAC has some way to go towards restablishing itself & as such deem it inappropriate to collect funds in the interim.
2. All equipment to be accounted for & made available.
3. All clubs regardless of affiliation to be contacted. This is to gauge what the divers of Wales think WASAC should be accountable for.
During the next few weeks a questionnaire will be sent out those clubs & branches we have details for.
In addition questionnaires will be made available at dive shops & outlets throughout Wales & also at the Dive Show in the NEC.
We are relying on your feedback to help us decide which route to take, what you want us to work on for you & what you don't. Please help us by giving this feedback.
The executive are meeting on 04/11/04 to review these points.
If you are concerned that your club is not being represented then please contact me via wales.coach@bsac.com or go to the BSAC Wales Smart Group via www.bsac-wales.org.uk
Our thanks go to the outgoing executive & for the work they have done.
Thanks,
Hywel
