Let me introduce myself. My name is Angela. I completed my PADI Open Water in December 2005 with my husband, Paul. In Capernwray.

We are both now PADI Advanced Divers, with Deep Speciality (to 40 metres) and Nitrox.

We used to live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. While there (and still now) we joined Robinhood Dive Club, and we are still active members of this club.

In March 2008, we relocated to Aberdeen. We joined Ellon SAC in summer 2009, and only just managed to get the end of summer diving with them in and around the north east coast and the Moray.

We are in the process of doing our Sport Diver with Ellon SAC, and I've attended 2 regional coaching days, one in August 2009 and the other in September 2009.

I have 170 logged dives, not as many as I would have hoped by this stage, but 2008 was a bad year for diving, we only logged 10 dives in 2008 due to the relocation n stuff.

Most of my diving has been in the UK, but I have dived the red sea twice, Malta, Croatia and Truk Lagoon. I am planning a return trip to Truk Lagoon next year.

My husband works away a lot, so cannot always count on him as a buddy.

My ambition is to log 200 dives easily this year, and complete my Sport Diver by the end of the year. I'm not a cometitive diver, I just like diving. I have no favourite kind of diving. I'm happy doing wall diving and wreck diving. If I'm not happy about doing something, I'll say so.

I will wish to continue onto DL eventually, but first things first, get SD completed.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm sure I'll have fun on the forum. I never thought of joining a forum before but then a friend suggested I join on a recent weekend dive to Loch Creran on the west coast.

I'm sure I'll have fun on the forum.Take it with a pinch of salt and you should be fine. The amount of diving you have done, you should have worked out divers can have strong opinions at times ;)

Lol. Yes, I have noticed! That's why I said in my intro that I'm not a competitve diver, as I can't be bothered getting into the politics, it's a neverending story from there.

I just want to dive, and find dive buddies to dive with. That's why I joined the forums in the hope that I'll get more diving this year. When I'm not diving, it's all I can think about doing.

Have you joined the North or South Scottish Regional Yahoo groups yet? Based in Aberdeen you sort of fall into both camps.

I guess we'll see you at one of the monthly training sessions in Loch Fyne, if that's not too far.

Regards

Edward

Hi Edward,

Yes, I've joined the North Scotland BSAC group. I'm looking forward to the next regional coaching day, although I have visitors that weekend, but if they come on Friday and leave on Saturday I should be able to make a Sunday dive, but if they come on Saturday and leave on Sunday, then I'll have to miss out on yet another regional weekend.

I've also joined finstrokes, conger alley and YD, so I think I have myself covered. Just trying to put myself out there now!

I can't dive at the moment, my dryuit is away getting a new neck seal, so have missed out on a Rosehearty dive today, boo hoo.

welcome to BSAC , i might have missed the post on YD as its a bit busier.

glad to see another convert from PADI. thats an impressive list of dive sites. Truk is in the list of places to dive but i think its just going to be a dream for me.

The YD is a few weeks old now, so I can imagine it would've moved down the list a fair bit by now.

Yes, I'm a PADI convert, although I still dive to my current qualifications with my new BSAC branch, which is great 'cos I was concerned about going from diving up to 40 metres to being limited to 20 metres as an OD. I can't wait to do my SD as then I'll be qualified for deco stops, as PADI don't do deco diving.

I'll admit it, Truk is expensive, and we're struggling to get the money together to pay for the return trip in 2011, but it is sooooooooo worth it. I nearly said no to it 'cos we couldn't afford it, but my hubby talked me round, and I'm so glad he did. It really was, without the shadow of a doubt, the best holiday I've EVER had
