I remember there being some discussion on here before about the logic of running a combined Advanced Nitrox / Sports mixed gas course,, i just cannot find it!! anyone able to point me in the right direction??

Specifically i am looking at Dive Leaders who are already diving with sling tanks with 50% in, who are "perhaps" not qualified in diving this gas, but want to progress into diving with 2 deco gasses!!!!

until the hog loop issue is resolved i doubt that there will be much uptake or the instructor base to run with this.

what are the diferences between the new and the old adv Nitrox.

the adv Notrix :) i have lets me use up to 50% for a cleaner exit with no acceleration of deco.
the old ERD would have let me use up to 80% and give me acceleration.

I don't see why an instructor wouldn't be able to deliver a combined course, although I expect that he/she would need to be satisfied that the learning curve wasn't too steep for the student(s). Other agency instructors are happy to combine courses..

yep, thats what im thinking,, the hog looping issue is a moot point regarding this, its more the use of 100% which is an issue.

And yehh, thats what im thinking?? back to back courses,,, as the SMG, rates from the 80% accelerated deco in the new advanced nitrox, to 100% and introduces the concept of weak trimix for those 40-50m dives we've been doing on air, and if they wish the use of 2 cylinders.

so i think its just one natural progression which could quite easilly be combined...

so is there a series of update lectures so "old Adv Nitrox"divers can use 80% for acceleration?

Happy to do it now, knowing the theory behind it , thanks to Mark Powells wonderful book, but would like to have the proof I am able to do it in this insurance based society we have evolved into.

There is the ADP workshop, which we are still waiting to be released following the announcement at the DOC.

i had an email through from BSAC yesterday saying this course was now released. when i get back up to speed with my diving I will likely do this.

if you have adv nitrox qual you only need the part b according to the bumpf . need to read it properly though.
