Hi can anyone help, I am going to Cuba in April, staying in Varadero and want to know if anyone can recommend a good dive centre locally out there, plus any tips about the Island would be appreciated...Cheers

Varadero is a long finger of land, almost an island, and has two dive centres, one at the very end of the "finger", one at the mainland end.
They're both simple, reasonably well equipped, air no Nitrox
Try to take your own dive buddy with you, the dive boats are usually like a One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest day trip (The boats themselves are pretty good - it's the buddies :))
Some great wrecks and marine life in the Straits of Florida, we saw a Manta, plus plenty of life on some nice wreck dives in the 10-30m range
The hotels generally increase in quality as you go along the island.
Make sure you have a few days in Havana if you can - it's a truly amazing place :) The Parque Central is the ideal hotel for a few days at either end of a week on Varedero IMO
Have a great holiday - feel free to PM me if you need to know anything else
