Hi Guys,
this is a question for Instructors.

What are the requirements for an Ocean Diver Trainee to do its first Open Water lesson (OO1)?

Obviously all the pool lessons (OS1 -OS5) should be signed off.
But what about the theory classes (OT1-OT7)? And the Theory Test? Do they all have to be done before the trainee can do the first open water lesson (OO1)?

Thank you for your help.

The lectures should be done before going open water, but the exam can
wait until ideally just before the last dive.

The rational is that a lot of what is in the theory makes more sense once
you've done the practical on dives 1-4, but is an anti-climax if you wait
until all 5 dives* are done. much better to become a diver at the end of
Dive 5.

*Assuming you've done 5 dives in the required in-water time

If you look at the Lesson Sequencing on the OD section of the Instructor Manual you will find the first open water dive (OO1) is "theoretically" done before the last theory lesson (OT7).
