hi there, am planning to dive the scylla in the next couple of weeks and am probably going to go with whitsand bay divers people. they seem pretty ok but don't have big Padi or Bsac signs on the website - any experiences, warnings or recommendations out there? would be most grateful for any info as don't know any divers in the uk.

No idea about them, but don't let the lack of big logo's put you off. Charter boats aren't really anything to do with the diving, if they aren't doing training and aren't a club then they have little reason to be affiliated to any of the big organisations.

Haven't been diving with whitsand bay divers, but do know someone who works there as he used to work at our local dive shop. We were all sad when he left and miss him cos he would really try for you - last person to speak to him said he was happy there, and thats always a good sign!

Was ringing round recently to get quotes for a club trip to dive the scylla and they were pretty competitive too...only reason we didn't use them was cos the club decided to go for a hardboat trip rather than a RIB trip. Seemed pretty helpful on the phone, and were available via email too.

Other than that can't help as i haven't personally been diving with them!

We're diving the Scylla and JEL the weekend of 2nd/3rd October so might see you out there diving!

Have a good trip,
Helen

thanks to the people who replied with tips and advice. The Whitsand Bay people couldn't take me out on the dates I was about for so I went to Plymouth to the Deep Blue Diving centre on Mountbatten - they were great, friendly, efficient and the diving was great. Just so you know. Cheers, hannah
