Hello Keith,
got a question for you as the tech savey person you are.
If i go the the page www.bsac.org//coaching/regionalwebs.htm and click on the link for Saudi arabia then the following message comes up:
"Network Error (dns_unresolved_hostname)
Your requested host "members.xoom.com" could not be resolved by DNS. For assistance, contact your network support team."
Any idea what that means or how to get around it?
If you have any other links to BSAC club website in Saudi please be so kind to let me know.
Thanks
Khaled

Hi Khaled
That "DNS" error message simply means that the name/URL we have been given for the Saudi region web site no longer exists, it could be that xoom.com have changed things around and the site has been lost.
I'll try to contact Dave Smith for you. For regional sites we will buy you a BSAC domain name and host your web sites on our web server, all that you need to do is find somebody to write the site for you. That offer is open to all of our regions of course, if you've got a regional site, REDS site that you want hosting then we'll host it and provide a suitable domain name for you.
As for branches in Saudi, <a href="http://www.bsac.org/branches/row.htm" >http://www.bsac.org/branches/row.htm</a> is the lastest list that we have, there's some email addresses and contact numbers on there. Also try <a href="http://www.bsac.com/about/branches.htm," >http://www.bsac.com/about/branches.htm,</a> excuse my geography but you may find one or two links of use to you.

Also try "http://www.bsac.com/about/branches.htm,"
I get the following message when following this link.
"File Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server."
Sorry to bother you again.
Stupid question: "Who is Dave Smith?" Pardon my ignorance.

No problem! Loose the , on the end of that URL, it should be <a href="http://www.bsac.com/about/branches.htm" >http://www.bsac.com/about/branches.htm</a>
Dave Smith is listed as your Saudi regional coach, but his email address doesn't seem to be valid. I've asked Jim at HQ what the current situation is, I'll get back to you when I find out. All the bsac stuff can be found via <a href="http://www.bsac.org/" >http://www.bsac.org/</a>

OK Khaled ? I?ve got the answer for you?
We currently have a vacancy for the Saudi Regional Coach and also for a UAE coach as well by the looks of it. The whole area is now being caretakered by the Middle East Regional Organiser Team, they can be contacted on <a href="mailto:mideast.rorg@bsac.com">mideast.rorg@bsac.com</a> (we?ve updated our online list, sorry about that!)
That explains where the Saudi web site went, it probably hasn?t been maintained. I?ve emailed the Middle East team and offered to host any web sites for them on the BSAC web server, that?s something that we do for any of our regions if they want web hosting.
So sorry, it looks like the Saudi web site has vanished, the best I can do is the branch list I?ve already given you. If any of our members in that area would like to put together some info about their locality or generally help out then I?m sure that the Middle East team would love to hear from you!

[My thanks to Jim at HQ Technical for the answers and updating our web site with the latest info]

Keith,
i would be interested to get more involved but at the moment i am not a BSAC Instructor and am still under Advanced Diver Training. I hope that is done by the end of the year.
I am very much interested to become a BSAC instructor but here start the difficulties as our Branch has only one active Advanced Instructor (LUCKLY). But nobody (to our knowledge)who can run the lower level instructor courses. That is the reason why i was checking for the regional coach to find out what is going on in the outher club in Saudi.
In regards to a Regional Webpage i would have not problems to find the time (unless you ask my wife) to maitain a webpage. I am doing a simalar job on my Department intranet.
A question the Middle East Regional Organiser Team is based where? UK, Middle East, Saudi???? I will send them a e-mail to see what they are up to.
Many thanks for the support. i am sure you will here from me soon.
Khaled
