Hi all,
Im shopping round for a new set of regs and spotted the following at Divers Warehouse and thought it was a bargain. Before I buy tho, I want to know are these able to be put in nitrox service and does anyone have an opinion on them?
Apeks DS4 1st stage and ATX40 regulator. £142.02 less 5% new year discount!
Price 140 delivered!!

Let me point out that I have no affiliation with this outlet. Im simple shopping and wanting feedback :)
Cheers

Yes they can be used for Nitrox, there is no problems with them they are good performing well made regs, the spairs are widely available and they are not a dificult reg to service. Dive Life in Manchester were selling these very cheap as well.
That is what I would buy if i was in the Market for some new regs.
Graham.

Hard to beat on price or performance. I've had mine for 5 years, completely flawless.

Great Regs,
Try Go Dive, which may be cheaper, was just before xmas when I bought a set.
Will do Nitrox straight out of the box as all Apeks regs do.
Hope this helps.
Alan
I have four sets apart from six month servicing for student use very good regs:)
Great regs - I've got 5 DS4 and some DSTs, all ATX. The only difference between the 40 and 50 is the adjustment knob, which you can fit as an upgrade. They are very robust and easy to service. Go for it!

Hmmm twiddly knobs to play with...
To be honest I cant really tell any difference on a mates with the knobs... but out of interest do you know where I could get the upgrade if I was interested and roughly how much this would be?

I have been looking it to similar regs recently for high O2 content.
Was told the regs listed above are no good for nitrox (well, the high end stuff), on the website it states the following:
"As they leave the factory standard Apeks regulators are suitable for use with oxygen enriched gases providing the oxygen content does NOT EXCEED 40%*"
Then further down:
"* Nitrox equipment will be supplied in Europe in accordance with the EN 144-3 and the EN13949 which states that equipment sold in CEE (European Community) countries over 21% and up to 100% will be manufactured with the special M26 fitting."

Ignore that advice. Apeks are subscribing to the M26 con and are deliberately restricting the sale of non-M26 regs for higher oxygen content. I bought a DS4 + ATX40 which I used with 60% for a year and then had it O2 cleaned at my LDS. Try asking a dive shop to sell you a DS4 + ATX40 as O2 clean. Even if you ask them to strip and O2 clean the brand new reg before they ship it to you, you will be pushed to find a shop that'll do it.
SDS are again doing an offer on ATX40/DS4 DIN regs. This time it's £120 but can't be done online, just by phoning the shop or emailing.
