I am sure that this has been delt with,if so sorry. Does anyone know of any good aircraft wrecks in the British isles? Any leads to books would also be appreciated.

I seem to recollect the remains of some Catalina's somewhere off of South Devon - near Burgh Island, and the details are probably in the Dive Devon book. Never dived them myself. Otherwise it's the plane in Gilde, and the helicopter in Stoney.

Helicopters, that is. And a Cessna as well.
Seriously, though, there are bits of a Consolidated Catalina near the ferry slip on Great Cumbrae. There must be a Cessna somewhere in the Sound of Mull, but no-one is saying where.

Ah that'll be the one the Navy found last year, allegedly one of two...!
Don't forget the East Coast, there are bits of a Spitfire (I believe) in the Forth and a Grumman as well, contact the Divebunker at Burntisland in Fife for details/trips.
Although I don't think anyone has found it if memory serves there is one of the first two German Bombers shot down over Britain (during WW2 that is) lying somewhere down there too.
Probably many more but they make small targets in a large ocean!

And there are quite a few BAC Lightnings in the North Sea, many just off the coast and well within the sight of land too, they were all posted to RAF Dogger Bank....;-)

Presumably aircraft are more likely to be broken up anyway due to the speed they hit the water. Plus with the size of aircraft most are probably not worth diving alone unless its a jumbo-sized thing!

Not in the class of a Spitfire or Catalina I know, but an old airliner is being put in at Vobster this week-end!
