Hi Guys,
I'm moving to Munich, Germany for the next two (or more) years for work, and I wondered if anyone knows of active BSAC branches out there? I've looked at the BSAC Europe branches page, but that doesn't seem to have anyone nearby. Failing that, does anyone know of a friendly German version of BSAC?
Anybody have any experience of taking tanks and what not over? I presume that my (DIN) tanks will require retesting, or possibly not even be fillable with BS stamps on them?
Thanks,
Ben

Hi! Ben,
I have recently returned from Germany where I was the Secretary of the Paderborn BSAC Branch.
You will find that all of the Branches in Germany are BSAC Special Branches attached with Military Clubs.
I can give you specific contact numbers for branches, but AFAIK all of the Branches are in Northern Germany as the US Army tends to be based in the South where you are.
As far as you being a Civilian, that is not a problem, each Club is allowed a small percentage of Civilian Members.
As for your last question regarding Cylinders.
They are a European standard, and as such will be filled and tested at the same freuency and to the same standars as over here.
You may find that driving over it would be worth completly emptying your cylinders and leave the pillar valve open - It can make customs inspectors alot happier if you do this in my experience.
Branches are at:
Fallingbostal
Hohne
Paderborn
Munchen Gladbach
Kiel
Guttesloh
Hamelin
Osnabruck
Alternatively the Germans are heavilly into Scuba - and i'm sure that a local der Taucher club will accommodate you - All PADI though AFAIK.

Hi,
I live in Munich, and have done since 1990. Give me a ring or Email and we can meet up. I am member of BSAC Direct, but keen to meet up with other BSAC divers.

Thanks very much for the advice - great to hear that I can just take my tanks over and get diving. I've been in touch with Iain (other reply) and look forward to getting over there.
