I planing to visit North Cyprus this new year .I would like to know is there any place in Cyprus where in i can learn diving or some water sports.

It's a trick most of the spammers here try.

If you look at your "public profile", there's a place to put a homepage[1]. This is a link to an external site.

When a spammer gets banned, this profile page is not erased - so the spam link persists. Search engines then crawl the site - including the profile pages of banned spammers. Thus the search engine sees a link from this site to the spammer's site - and ranks it accordingly (i.e. using our reputation)

But shouldn't he be "killed" anyway?

Yes - but he hasn't been, and nor have several thousand other spammers :-(

[1] There's other stuff there too. The one that concerns me is the ICQ contact info; just about every spammer that has come here for several years sets up ICQ info almost immediately - it's so reliable, you can use it to spot spammers instantly in the "Who's Online" page. I don't understand this behaviour, but I worry it might be part of a botnet control system...

There is a problem that whilst mods can zap the signature block we can not zap the home page.

BTW I did see a legit user with an ICQ the other day for the first time
