Hi,
Does anyone have any innovative ideas for raising branch funds that they'd be prepared to share?
We're looking for grants for a replacement for our aging RIB and looking to augment some membership funds with fund raising ideas.
We've tried collecting waste paper (which was a big money earner until the local company decided not to take it any more), branch branded clothing, try dives (corporate and gift vouchers), weekly draws, raffles, car boots, etc. All with some success but it ends up with the same people putting their hands in their pockets.
Any new ideas gratefully received!
Cheers,
Dave.

Our Club is in a similar position. A Christmass raffle does well, as has a ''Beer and Skittles '' night. We did have to make our own Alley however,as one we rented was no longer available.

Hi, We discovered that there are self-employed PADI instructors
and a small SAA club in our town who don't have access to a
3.5 metre deep swimming pool. We barely cover quarterly pool costs from our own members so we decided to let other agencies use our pool for instructing/ testing kit. We charge ?10 per student under instruction per session and 50% more for the SAA insurance club members who need to test kit.
We confirm in writing that all visitors should carry/arrange adequate insurance/ supervision, depending on what they are doing.
Suddenly we are covering our pool costs & a bit more.Funny old thing, some students & visitors can see the benefits of a club with all the facilities and have decided to join our branch.
We also did a joint trip with the SAA club- Quite friendly,
us BS-AC types when you get to know us.
Maybe if you have access to a decent training pool you could
try a similar joint venture with your local diving community?
One golden rule: no try dives by others- If some one is thinking of learning to dive then we want first refusal. If the
stuudent/ diver has already decided on a training agency other than BS-AC we respect their descision and let them decide if
they want to x-over once they get to see our set-up.

Have you tried contacting any other diving organisations or clubs in the area that may be struggling to get suitable numbers from with in their branch for their own planned dive weekends , charge a small fee to cover fuel costs and boat servicing. Failing that if you have a pool why not share it with other organisations and clubs to cover hire charge and possibly raise money for club funds if a suitable number of people turn up.
