View Full Version : Poseidon Cyklon and Xstream stage mixing

Does anyone know of any reason why I can't use a Poseidon cyklon second stage with an xstream deep mk3 first stage, or a cyklon 5000 first stage with an xstream deep second stage?

Thanks for any answers.

Because of the design of the Extreme first stage you should not use it with a Cyclone second stage. If there is a problem with a Extreme first stage it fails in such a way that high presure gas is sent to the second stage, that is why Extreme and Jet Stream hoses have pressure release valve's built into the hose.
I Do not know of any problems going from Cylcone first stages to Extreme second stages. But the inter stage pressures may be very different I do not know.

Correct, Cyclone first stage delivers 11 bar intermediate pressure.

cyclone 1st stage use a higher intermediate pressure so you can use the xstream 1st stage with cyclon 2nd stage
but you canot use cylon 1st stage with a xstream second stage
the last option cost me £100 to fix jet stream same pressure as xstream and a nice letter from the servicer not to do it again.
now dive 2 xstream 1st stages one with xstream and the other with jet stream 2nd stage (thats the way they come now)on my twins
cyclon 1st and 2nd's on my single set up

You should not not use a Cyclone second stage with a Jet Stream or Extreme first stage as there flow rates are to high and you are likely to have free flows. You can use but is not recommend a Extreme or or Jetstream second stage with a Cyclone first stage. This information I have just been given by Poseidon UK.

don't know who gave you that advice from poseidon uk but they need to check what they are talking about cyclon 1st stage higher intermediate pressure and WILL damage your xstream second stage wich run at reduced intermediate pressure same as jet stream
i still have my naughty boy letter to prove this :D

The manuals are on-line and as I read it specifically mentioned OK combinations are Cyclone to Jetstream and Jetstream to Xstream.
Cyclone to Xstream is not listed as forbiden just definitely absent from the list.

Also the Cyclone IP is listed as 11.5bar and the Jetstream/Xstream as 8.5
Perhaps they just made the Jetstream 'compatable' with a wider range of pressures.

The main problem is the cyclone first stage intermediate pressure is 10bar where the Extreme works on an intermediate pressure of 12bar

Please take a look at Nigels post taken from the manuals the cyclon works at the higher pressure the xstream and jetstream work on the lower pressure;)
