Dive Mag - Full of interest this month!

Monty went off to the Maldives with a Ballerina :)

Simon Rogerson appears to have found his feminine side in St Lucia on a dive and spa holiday where a high light seems to have been, apart from the diving he did, was having a facial.  :D

I know which of them I would have followed. Well done Booty :D

That being said I did find the article about Morays very interesting reading.

Is that tongue in cheek or are they paying you...

The cash card lottery thing stuffed in with the mag was less than impressive..

Does BSAC have any control over the dodgy advertising stuff in its magazine?

I mean, come on, 'free' scratch cards where you might win ten pounds but the phone call / text message to check if you've won is £9? Is that really our demographic?

 :p What do you think? :(

Sell my soul for a face massage? Tho I think a few of our lady divers on this message forum would enjoy the experience.

Funnily enough! I had two mags through my door today. One was Dive Mag, the other from my local County Council named "Inspirations" (an oxymoron if I ever saw one). Both had scratch cards in them, both with with three symbols and two symbols correct and the instruction to ring 0870 numbers - guess where they both went. :p

I flipped through mine - thought, 'Yo, relevant' and flipped it into the bin.

Is there some kind of deal between Dive and Diver whereby the former becomes so shockingly bad that the latter looks good?

Well, we had better keep an eye on your trip reports. Just to see if there is anything exotic.

they take it in turns to be shockingly bad. but nothing quite hits the bottom of the barrel as Sport Diver magazine

Oh yes it does. The US SkinDiver was the absolute paradigm of the "advertorial" - until it thankfully died.

I sincerely hope it isn't but they do say "There's one born every minute".

My first thought on finding the insert was that the distributor was insulting my intelligence, then I became angry that he should collude with scoundrels.

Shame that it quite took my mind off the excellent insert from BSAC NW.

:D You actually read BSAC trip reports? You are my first! :)

Don't tell John Bantin or Simon Rogerson ;)

It seems someone's bright enough now to include BSAC NW inserts for NW divers,

Particularly enjoyed Michael Hodgson's (Dave) - "Right to Reply" from last months "It happened to me" :)

Always interesting to find there is an alternative point of view.

This months quotes -

Diving as a "three" is not great at the best of times

Not sure why the word three has been put in quotes

Diving as a three isn't to be recommended

Perhaps DL's should be able to adapt to the situation.

Perhaps "ones" might be an alternative? Or at best one + two?

Sorry, off to the air raid shelter for me, hat and coat truly on.

Shouldn't worry. If DL has taken the plural and/or turned possessive then it's going to be Hell down there anyway.

I've just read a warning on the web about someone putting cards through doors telling the occupant they've just missed delivery of a parcel. Thay call the number on the back of the card to arrange delivery and guess what, they've just been billed £15.

Scratch card seems quite god by comparison!

Coming up to Christmas this scam will most likely do the rounds again.

It's a very good reason to live in a PO Box - as I do. Strange notes at my door at home get carefully ignored.

Yes, the IHTM is about the only bit I read. This month's was a classic - blaming the dive guide for their own muppetry

Agreed! I was in a threesome in those caves last year. Remember our dive guide saying quite clearly that getting lost was not an option (a round of drinks would be payable for anyone having to be recovered from the reef). :p

We three city fathers went in and guess what - we spent quite a time going back and forward. Think at one stage I stuck my head out of a crack in the rocks to have a crafty shufti  . We made it out with time to spare. :D

Good dive! Remember seeing loads of Spanish dancer eggs on that trip too.

Must be a tight squeeze with all your diving equipment :D
