You would be better off crossing over to PADI. There are more opportunities for PADI Instructors than BSAC.
Nope and it's very unlikely you find any either. Your best bet is to do a
PADI Divemaster Internship at a BSAC/PADI outfit (like ours :D ) . Yes you
could go straight into the PADI Instructor exams, but that both costs and
you'd still have no actual hands on experience, making you unemployable
IMO.
While BSAC club life is a good start, it's miles away from the commercial
world.

Wot he said  Damm Tel, weren't we supposed to be arguing again this week?
You cant make a living out being purely a BSAC Instr, I work at the largest BSAC School in the world and yet I need my PADI stuff to keep me afloat.

As others have said, realistically you need to be a PADI instructor so means an IDC/IE. You MAY supplement earnings very slightly if youre a bsac instructor and happen to be at a BSAC school but you wont get a job or a living out of being just a BSAC instructor especially abroad. Last BSAC school i worked at we taught roughly 30:1 ratio PADI:BSAC courses. There's very little or no demand.
Im a BSAC OWI but only teach that for club when home. I work now PADI only for a place that isnt a BSAC school so i couldnt teach it even if someone came in through the door and asked for it. Its a flaw in the centre must be a bsac affiliated place meaning even if you have instructors there they cant teach.

hi jenny if you realy want to do diving as a living any where why do you not open you own franchies or a partner ship and make it your own company see wat is available ie any small business loans form the goverment to help small new companys and be your own boss or a new venture in a out door activitie center and combine all your skillls try searching new ways to full fill your dreams i know it can be hard but the rewards after will make you feel much more of a person when you reach all your goals in life I just think the possibilitys are endless if any one aplise hard work and deterniation opp mind my spelling i an dyslecix take care make it you have nothing to lose bye
i took the road of affiliating a dive centre in mazarron, spain to bsac, did it as an experiment after being asked by visiting divers, i honestly can't say if it will be succesful, i have to say however that the world is stuffed with padi instructors! unless you own the dive centre, i really can't see anyone doing any more than scratching a living teaching diving

I honestly dont know if you could get employment, it seems around 1/3 of all the Bsac diving centres are in Japan so if I was looking, this might be a good place to start. (http://www.bsac.com/people.asp?section=1910&sevnigctionTitle=BSAC+International)

No idea. Ive never met one. Not sure how that would fit in with a DO authorisation etc anyway.
Here at least there is exactly zero demand for BSAC courses. Of the 2 schools i know of here none of them have taught a BSAC course this year.

I think you'll find more than half the Bsac schools are in Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. In Japan I'm told their schools are more popular than Padi. As Bsac Thailand schools are comparitively new, there may well be a greater opportunities for employment there. Back in the 60's Thailand was my idea of paradise; great food, smokes, beer, whisky, friendly generous natured people, beautyful women, great weather and a low cost of living by western standards. The culture didn't seem to different to a Welsh boy, they loved to sing and muy thai boxing looked a bit like Aberdare valley style with more rules.
One of the guys from my club spent the summer teaching travelling students in cuba. It was so they could carry out research and surveys.

Hello Jennie, yes there are jobs out there for BSAC divers and instructors, and unlike the PADI centres that I know of (and that's just a few), we don't charge you for working with us. We are looking for staff for the 2011 season and would be happy to send you the details. Send me an email to Steve at croatia_diving@hotmail.com
