Hi I have been offered a UWATEC ALADIN SPORT computer cheap but it has a code (err) which means that the battery needs changed and the software needs to be rebooted. Has any one had experience with these computers and if so is it worth me paying to get it working on top of the £30 wanted for the item. A battery is £28 but i don't know how much the reboot is.
it is the old model not to sure how old though
Thanks in advance Danny
Search the old threads here.. there are some pleaces that will change the battery (which is a factory job, not a DIY job) and reset/recalibrate it for about £50?
If you've found a shop that will do it for you £28, great - they'll have to reset it when the yput the new battery in.
Given that a suunto gekko and similar are going for not much over £100, you might or might not think it is worth it..
Iain.
Good reliable, easy to read, robust computers. Absolutely love the Aladin Range. Had I think three of them so far. Dived them extensively. Iain made a reasoned point. It's up to you. If you go down the refurb route I would suggest you send it into Scubapro UK for advice and a battery change. They are very helpful and very fair.
