I have mailed on this subject before-about a year ago-but I'm getting so frustrated with it now that I must write again!!
I and my partner bought a house approx 1 year ago and had to take Life Insurance out. We were honest & upfront about our sport & the fact my partner is an Instructor. We got VERY VERY mixed quotes and quotations on standards of cover and although we wanted to get the best possible deal-we were very limited with time....we ended up with a deal from countrywide assured who agreed to cover us-take off the loading but because Jason(my partner) has dived to 30 + metres there are added sections to his cover which state that they will not cover him if the injury/illness is even in any slight way to do with diving. As in recent history, even people who do not take part in any 'adventurous' sports are having problems with Insurance companies paying out claims on Critical/Life insurance-it doesn't inspire me to think that if anything did happen(sorry to be morbid!)-there would be a payout!
Surely there is by now an insurance company, knowledgable about Scuba Diving that will insure people fairly-in the same way that owners of fast cars can get 'specialist' insurance??? If not-it's about time there was!
I don't want to 'not mention' that we are divers but if the cover will try and weedle out of paying out on claims-why should people take out and pay for the cover in the first place-as there is no point!!!!!
Sorry to moan on-but it seems so unfair!!!
Any help would be most gratefully received!!!!
Cheers!

Jo

Had similar problems with a loading on my life insurance several years ago. Ring BSAC and ask to speak to their Insurance advisor. He sorted out my problem and the loading was removed

good luck

Derek
