Why does a wild seal engage in such interactions?
Interested to hear your thoughts.

The foremost thing in wild animals thoughts is "Food!!!".
I've seen behaviour like this at the very remote Pearson Islands in the Great Australian Bight, South Australia. Oz was somewhere north and Antarctica somewhere south.
Mostly they seem interested in the bubbles you blow but nibbling your fins is another "test". You really have to worry if they open their mouths to reveal teeth considerably larger and, arguably, more powerful than those of the biggest canine. Until then, they simply look very cute.

Sorry - they are definitely not thinking "food"!
Appreciate your thoughts though - thank you.
