After flooding my Olympus PT-030 housing and thinking it was the O-ring, I bought a replacement SP-350 camera (now have 2). Only to find out that the housing has a hairline crack which was the cause of the flood and not the O-ring :(

So I'm now looking for a replacement PT-030 or an Ikelite #6132.35 housing.

Regards,
Martin

If I can't track down a replacement housing then perhaps someone will know of a company that can repair cracks in camera housings.

Martin

Be very careful if you try to sort the crack, I have heard of it being done but also have heard of a lot of mistakes by using the wrong adhesives. Will try to remember where I read this. If I was you I would get an Ikelite housing they are far beter (also twice the price) than the Olympus PT-030 housing. I'm on my third camera and housing and the Ikelite has been by far the best. ;)

Hi Ding

Cameras Underwater may have a new scrapped housing which they might be able to use for replacment part. I have sent a photo of my cracked housing to see what they think.

The Olympus PT-030 and the Ikelite housings for the Olympus SP-350 and no longer availble, hence trying to repair or track a second hand housing down. If all else fails, then I will put both my SP-350's on Ebay and upgrade to the Canon IXSUS 100 IS and Ikelite housing.

Are you still looking for a PT 30? I am selling one SP350 with PT30 as I have upgraded to DSLR. Do you have email address I can send picture or other information if you need it?

Well I have managed to repair the small crack with Plastex just need to take it on a deeper dive to make sure theres no leaks.

I have just got back from Australia (Newcastle area) so it's a pity as I may have been able to check your housing out whilest there.

Let me know if you plan on putting it on ebay and I'll have a look.

Martin

I got my first SP310 with PT030 around three years ago and used it for a while until I discovered the crack under the shoe mount for the flash, it took couple of months until it start to leak, luckily I discovered it in time and saved my camera from flooding. I ordered a second PT030 from cameras underwater and after one month of diving with it in Phuket Thailand I get a crack in the same location as the previous PT030, Olympus must do something about it, as if you guys read the warranty paper that this should be covered by Olympus as I assume you haven't bumped the housing against any rock or took a hammer and start hitting on the shoe mount. I emailed cameras underwater and waiting for a reply meanwhile I sticking to my G9 but Cannon are bad in making housings for the G9, couple friends of mine have problems with the Orings. Those companies want us to spend all our money on buying cameras and housings. So maybe pay little more for an Ikelite and then you are safe for a longtime.
