Hi,

Went to get a replacement battery sorted for my Gekko and the chap in the LDS said it is not a battery problem but a software problem and I should try sending it to Suunto direct with a covering letter (it's stuck on 999 minutes dive time and nothing will move)

I've been rummaging on their website but can only find dealers in the UK not Suunto itself. Can anyone help with an address?

This might help? Then again, it might not because you've already gone down that route.

The service request thing you can go part way through and then it says you have to be an authorised dealer, or go through an authorised dealer if you are out of guarantee (which I am).

I really want to just send it to them. The chap in the shop said if you send it they are likely to just sort it out, but if you ring etc you are likely to be referred back to LDS and therefore have to buy a new one.

Go back to the people you bought it off, they are liable for selling products 'fit for purpose', not the manufacturer.

Hi Maria,

Don't be mislead by the guarantee period, if its a fault not down to ware-and-tare, then they still have a liability; for having sold you a defective product.

Suunto have contacted me to advise the pressure sensor is faulty and cannot be repaired. As it is two years out of warranty (despite never even having got to a battery change yet), they are sending a brand new replacement for £75.50.

Now that goes to show me, yet again, that Suunto's customer service is exemplary - unlike some. :)

Unless someone now pipes up and says that they can get a brand new Gekko cheaper elsewhere - I couldn't be bothered to go and look but seeing as that's fairly close to the cheapest price for my favourite Bottom Timer, I somehow doubt that'll happen.

Well done Suunto.
