...for a form of words you can adapt to your own requirements. It's also useful to ask for an explanation of the Japanese policy rather than just issue a protest statement: that way they are at least obliged to respond to your query.

Blimey - So thats 2 banned now by my counting Jerry and John - did I miss anyone.
You don't have something against the J's of this world do ya???
[I'm glad that somebody can see humour in this - I can't so please excuse my sense of humour failure. Two members over the entire history of the forums is two too many IMHO, but when forced into a corner I =WILL= act to protect the integrity and reputation of these forums and to protect the club. If people don't like that - tough. Go somewhere else or elect someone else to do this bloody thankless job. KL]
Sweet Dreams. :-)

Thankless?
Sorry Keith I don't agree with that.
I'm thanking you right now.
I remember only too well what the forums were like before they were moderated.
Half the time it was just flame wars and petty arguments.
You do the job just fine IMHO.
[Thanks for that Andy - very much appreciated at a very difficult time. I can assure you I only take such decisions very reluctantly and with regret once all other approaches have been tried. This is not something that I enjoy doing but I am very occasionaly left with no other option. KL]

No apologies needed, Keith. Your actions are fully supported by me and anyone else who desires friendly, informative debate and exchange of opinions in an intelligent and mature environment.

Keith,
I recognise that moderation is required in posting items on the forum's. I think I've seen enough mis-understanding's happen on the threads to accept that occassionally, and it is too easy sometimes to use terminology or broach a subject that either gives a wrong impression or attracts an over the top response. I think you have a thankless task, but someone's gotta do it!
Making the call's on this must be extremely difficult, but keep up the good work!
What I would say is that if there is something that anyone feels strongly/passionate about, don't post straight away. Type the response but don't send it until you've re-read it 24 hours later. There are many times that I've found that typing it out get's the initial issue (rant) out of my system. Not sending it, and returning 24 hours later - when I've slept on it - has made me moderate what I've said because a fresh look at it has made me realise that what I've initially typed could cause aggravation.
Regards.

Just a simple question, If a post is closed why is it being carried on with? Wht not delete the whole of this thread?
[Because the originating thread and one of the replies was perfectly valid and there was no reason to remove it. Also, I am always willing to explain and justify my actions, simply removing an entire thread because of one incident is not something that I want to do. KL]

It is a pity that debate of such an importaint topic has been side tracted because of some of the language used.
[My sentiments exactly David. Which is why I removed the contention but left the very important underlying message. KL]

The argument it seems to me is that of the use of the word beginning with "M" and that depends on your view of the barbaric act commited. It wasnt just a "simple" act of killing doplhins, it was an act that disgusts most civilized people and causes strong feelings on all sides. It is all down to semantics (and pedantics) it would seem.
[I think that the debate of what is acceptable on the forums should be the subject of a separate thread. As far as this thread is concerned the matter is closed. KL]
