Me too Alan, but as I have raised issue in the past, I suspect I won't even be asked on the second round.

I do not want to snipe at BSAC - I have had some good diving with you guys. If it is a market research survey you need more than your "customers" if you want to grow membership. We have had a few threads around why people go but this is the active (or sniping - yes I agree there are some that do sometimes) contributors to this forum.
I joined in July and have not renewed due to a change in my circumstances. My partner and I are looking at possibly joining another branch at some point in the new year.

So no - the survey should not be "members only" but potential new joiners or re-joiners too.

KL's Golden Rule #1 Applies : You can't please everybody!

The survey is NOT for members only, it covers a whole cross section of potential members, current members and ex members. Last week I had an ex member requesting to be taken OFF the list (we of course complied with those wishes).

The initial sample was random plus our key volunteers such as our regional staff who know an awful lot about the club and have some excellent ideas. We've also invited people who WANT to contribute for whatever reason. Nobody is barred, nobody is forced. The electronic version has gone out to well over 1,000 members beacuse we've had over 1,000 replies - an excellent success rate for such a project. I am sorry if we've missed one or two (like Alan), we'll try to get you (and Chris).

Unfortunately we cannot survey everybody, you would all be complaining like mad (quite rightly) about the huge cost if we even tried. We've tried to do the best that we can with the limited funds available.

So cut us some slack here guys, we're doing the very best that we can and trying our hardest to accomodate everybody, if anybody does slip though the net then it is by mistake and not by design. This has got to be one of the most far reaching surveys of its type ever carried out by the BSAC, we're going to be discussing the results and what we can do about them in Council for the best part of an intensive two day meeting in December.

But I already know what one of the main findings will be, it will show us that we can't please everybody :-)

Cheers

As a quick update to my previous reply

Having been promised over a week ago that the questionaire was on it's way, having given my e-mail address and membership number and having filled out the request form on the website twice (once back in September(-ish) once mre recently). I still haven't seen the questionaire.

Obviously BSAC don't want my feedback.

How about having a standard feedback questionnaire on the web site? This could be sectioned to provide feedback on key/specific areas which, would negate the need to carry out MORI polls. If BSAC are to be a sustainable organisation into the future then they need to get involved in dialogue with all stakeholders.

New members and people looking for information on diving can also provide feedback.

Just a suggestion!

Linda
