Apologies to all those who live in Bridlington. I DO know it is not abroad although it is an awful long way from sunny Sussex. :p

I have requested that it be placed in the UK Travel forum.

A welcome UK report written by Hamish who tells me he served in both the Army and the RAF. Well to make three mistakes like that (not to join the RN was the first IMHO :D).

Hi Eddie,

I have just read your report on GAN (ex RAF Gan) in the Indian Ocean and it brought back memories, not that I had been there but that every 2 years when I put in my choices of posting, Gan was always my first choice, but I was never lucky enough to get it. Mind you I cant complain I had a few good ones which included Cyprus, Gibraltar, South of France (NATO) and a short spell in Sardinia. :D

regards

Hamish

Cheers Hamish. Enjoyed placing your Travel report online.

Yes, RAF Gan was one of the places I yearned to go to while serving in the RN but never got there  . Made up for it last year ;). While I was in Gan I heard that direct flights there from the UK may be on the cards one day. Who knows? Where we stayed made me feel very comfortable as a lot of the WO and SNCO'S Mess was still evident. We ex Service men and women all have a book in us :p

Tried to get the mods here to take the Bridlington out of thread heading so it would reflect a title "New UK BSAC Travel dive reports" as the Overseas one does but we shall see . The more UK trip travel reports the better AFAIC.
