Hi!

I've been reading it for some time and I decided to make a move and sign up!

I love scuba diving and photography. I bought a camera not very long time ago. I was looking for new places to dive in vacation and didn't find anything in the web easy and fast to look up and that had photos of the places.
So I decided to develop a map where scuba divers can look up very fast cool diving spots with photos of the sites.

I launched the private beta of the tool last week and I would love if we could all participate to make a great map to look at and recommend dive sites!

I don't wanna spam, just to ask for a little help so we can create together a fun and useful tool for scuba divers :)

You can learn more about the project in www.nemoran.com/users/sign-up/
or access
the Nemoran Facebook group for any feedback or thoughts.

Thanks for reading!

Regards,

Patricia

Patricia,

I have a rule, I do not, ever, sign on to a site that requires a log in beforehand, even before I know that I want to log in.

For example, this site only requires you to log in if you want to post a response and that's as it should be.

Nope.

NO preview of what's available on the site before requiring a user login.

Not going to happen. :(

Sorry. It's impossible to tell if you're legitimate or just harvesting emails. Sorry to be so suspicious, but the internet is no longer the innocent place it was in 1995.

You do your thing and I'll do mine. I have just one e-mail address (there are others, I've never used them) and I use what I think is common sense when it comes to responding to possible "come-ons" such as this one.

To my ancient brain trying to remember all those wretched passwords is enough, what I don't need to do is to also need to remember all those addresses.

I have just one e-mail address

I have over 3,000... :-)

Every time I make a new contact, they get a unique email address for me.

If the address gets spammed, I know whodunnit. The email address gets retired, the spammer's mailserver gets blacklisted, and the spammer gets a bill for the cleanup I had to do.

To my ancient brain trying to remember all those wretched passwords is enough, what I don't need to do is to also need to remember all those addresses.

Ah, well, I only have to remember one set of credentials - all my emails end up in the same spool.

Vic.

Similar here.

5 email addresses. Two are write off email addresses that i use for sites that will scam or spam me (from hotmail and yahoo). Two are private for forums and people i have some level of relationship with. The other is personal for family and people i really trust.

It works for me, but i find Vics method to be much more amusing and probably a lot better if you have the time to maintain such a system. :)

Hardly any maintenance if he's doing what I think he's doing. If you own your own domain name then you can get anything@yourdomain.com routed to the same inbox. By default, you just use new addresses as they come up (for example I have bsac@mydomain.com). Occasionally I check my spam folder, and if I notice a lot of spam is addressed to bsac@mydomain.com then I know that my email has somehow leaked from here - in which case I just block that domain and carry on!

To be honest there are very few that I've needed to block over the years i've had it, so it's not all bad. I do have my main email which I use for friends / family etc, and I get a little spam to that, but the filter picks up most stuff so not much of a problem really.

Noooo - that's a fine way to get *loads* of spam. Catch-all addresses are just asking for trouble...

What I do is to add either an alias or a virtuser every time I want a new address. It's a tiny amouint of effort, but it allows me to maintain a group of specific and controllable addresses.

Ah right, no I tried that when I first set it up a few years ago, but because i've got to login via a web-based control panel to add aliases it was far more faff and work to do that than it would be to just delete the spam!

Seems to work anyway though, its extremely rare that anything isn't caught by my junk filters.

Hello all,

About the Nemoran Map Site I just want to point that we will have a version accesible without login in a few months. This one is Beta.

We are looking for people to give us feedback to improve it before going public.

For those who don't want to use their emails yet I created a Demo User so you can access and check the web if you are courious:

User Name: DemoUser
Pass: qwerty
URL: www.nemoran.com

I totally agree with spam and mail, I have my "spam account", it became my "spam account" when I could barely find the "real emails"...

Definitely we are not going to be spam email.

If you have any doubts let me know!

Regards,

Patricia

I could be wrong, but I suspect you've missed the boat. Amongst others;

http://www.divesitedirectory.co.uk/

Professional site, better established, more material.
