Our club has a trailer mounted compressor which is (has been!) used when we dive in air free places off the beaten track. Up to now the insurance has been about ?100, but this time it has jumped to over ?500. Which insurance company does your club use and what are typical costs?

Come on, someone must know summat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why?

I don't know of any branches with mobile compressors and I know most of the local branches. Do you know anyone else with one? If so ask them.

Latest development. Managed to finally contact Westfields - well, the treasurer did and got back with this...

New quote from WESTFIELD Ins ?286.50

Will only cover when secured in locked building,
will not be insured when in transit or away from locked premises,

Will also not cover liability for useage, the guy I was talking to suggested that BSACs insurance will cover any accidents, have not looked into this as yet.

Anybody wanna buy a compressor?

PS. Thanks Phil.

The correct price is ?250.00 plus 5% Goverment Tax = ?262.50
and Yes it is half the price then our competitors.
You are correct the policy will not cover compressor's whilst on or in a trailer.
The policy is designed to cover the cost of the compressor upto ?10,000.00 for all risks whilst in a lock building such as THEFT, FIRE, FLOOD, ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, SUDDEN OR UNFORSEEN IMPACT, ETC.

It does not cover liability, therefore I advised that you may wish to look into the BSAC Liability Insurance your club holds as this MAY be covered under that policy. ( but I am not 100% sure of this so best to check ), your advise on this would be useful.

Hope this is helpful.
Thank you for your kind interest.

:Alan,
As I understand, the BSAC public liability ins will cover you if a cylinder went bang or some other problem occured where a member of the public or club member is injured. For the operator of the comp you would need a personal injuries policy, I think.
Best of luck.

Thanks Phil - we are still working on this. It's the public liability side that I am insisting on. The comp is either in a locked garage where it is covered on my own insurance or being towed, it is covered by the car insurance. I don't want a bang to come back on the club members if you know what I mean
