Hi there,
I guess you mean Barmouth on the cambrian Coast?
I have been there loads of times and never seen any diving out of there. I also had a look at the charts and the sea bed is very shallow there and does not look that good. Further north past porthmadoc is a better bet.
Cheers,
gareth.

Hi
I recall the wreck detectives doing a program on a wreck carrying marble blocks.
"search around the area of Barmouth for a clue to the wreck's identity. "

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Chris

according to Chris Holdens wonderful books on North Wales diving VOL 1 there are a fair few dives out of Barmouth.
having also looked in the appendices a the rear it seems the nearest air is in Pwwlheli , although the book is now 6 years old. ( 2003 EDITION)
sorry

Thats interesting.
I've never seen divers going out of there before.
Should be good to find out what Kirmit finds.
Keep us updated please.
Thanks,
gareth.
Many moons ago an old flame and I took his Landi up a mountain near Dolgellau overlooking Barmouth. We dived a small quarry which was full of socks. Never seen so many socks underwater before.
From memory we got air from Pwwlheli from a sailing shop? It was over a decade ago now. Never saw anyone diving from Barmouth at that time.

admittedly its not very deep at all, but there is a reef underwater that runs out for a few miles . copyright issues prevent me scanning the page in and posting to show the sites.
Shell Island is supposedly good.

Hi Hope I'm not going to lead anyone astray but my Dad lives in Fairborne opposite side of the estuary from Barmouth (a bit like coming from the wrong side of the tracks)
When I visit him he talks of divers going off the beach so I guess there must be some local club or individuals who dive in the area though I've never seen them myself.
Looks fairly featureless on the chart but I guess if conditions were right it could be worth having a look under the cliffs for sea life or treasure. I've wandered around Barmouth harbour several times and never seen anything that vaguely resembles a dive boat. Best bet would be t track down a local club.
Good luck
Graham
