Has anyone had experience with the frame inserts holding prescription lenses that fit inside a mask ? My main concern is that of fogging. Maybe someone can advise from first hand experience.

Try pre-formed prescription lenses. They replace the existing glass from a twin lens mask similar to the full prescription

I wouldn't recommend them unless you are near them and can call in. My Aunt bought a mask from them at the Scottish Dive Show and waited for months for her mask. It all got very messy and it was only when Trading Standards got involved she finally got her money back. At one point I was going to go down to the Manchester Dive Show and spend all weekend at his stand kicking up a fuss to drive business away.

Hi Barrie, I have used ordinary glasses inside a mask very often. Glass lens work fine. Plastic constantly mist up and are nothing but trouble.

Firstly, I wear contact lenses and decided that it would be wise to at least buy prescription lenses for training etc, so I wouldn't have to mess around(better than getting an eyefull of 'orrible pool water and then irritating the hell of an unsettled lense.
SDS watersports at the NEC provided an excellent product and service and after nearly two seasons of salt/fresh water and 50+ dives are still going strong, I have never had the mask fog or mist up at all.
Incidentally i now still dive with my lenses in and still use the prescription mask - weird I know but the double magnifcation gives me no trouble at all. (might make the odd small lobby look like a whopper thou).
If anything I would say the stuck in lenses do collect some sh*t round the edges and corners, just where you cant get to them to clean, apart from that, no worries.
hope this helps,
Rich

Not had any experience with inserts as you describe.
I do have many years of experience diving with prescription lenses in masks. I've had several and never had a problem. I'm pretty short sighted (-7.00 left -7.5 right). Almost any decent dive shop will sort it out for you.
Mikes at Upminster did my last one. They had lenses of the shelf for me.
It rather depends on your presciption, long sight is more of a problem than short sight.
Recently I've been having a problem with close vision and reading instruments, this is common with advancing age. I've done a few pool sessions and some dives with disposable contacts and a plain mask.
I have a reading prescription in my left eye and a distance lens in the right. It sounds daft but it works. Somehow the brain sorts it out!

I can only say
I found them very helpful?
I lost my mask ,Next dive trip within two days I gave them a call for a replacement mask, the new mask came next day in the post
A lot of dive shops now have replacement lenses in stock or can order lenses in for you.
