hey,

looks to be going to twins sooner rather than the later i had planned due to some gear becoming available etc etc however...

i also am in the position to get a back plate made for me, rather than have to buy one, does anyone know of a place i can get templates of these from, so i can sort my own. i wouldnt mind going to a shop with some paper and pen and getting artistic, but not sure of assistant would like it half as much  :D

i intend to make my own harness set up too, using some available webbing, pockets and various goodies, so im not looking to buy a pre made rig (harness/plate/wing etc)...need to figure out what wing to get first too..but it will all slot together soon enough.

cheers,
john

Do you read DXF?
Combro backplate (http://www.nigelhewitt.co.uk/stuff/plate.zip).
We made over 300 of these over the years.

sadly no, thanks though nigel.

so it is quite possible to make oneself a back plate. if i can, i might try forming it too, but that sounds difficult though possible. going to try to build a cage on it too, as i like the idea if twinverts. but we are still at the design stage:rolleyes:

It is far cheaper to buy one. Honestly it is. You'll get sick of hacksawing stainless.

It would be cheaper to buy one ready made but that wouldn't uphold the best BSAC traditions of making your own kit and generally covering everything with earthing insulation tape.........only me again eh !

Hi,

I've just sent you an email, attached to it is a PDF file.

The PDF is a conversion of Nigel's autocad drawing (hope you don't mind Nigel).

It might be of use to you...

Nigel's drawing has the holes a little off the standard 11" centres. 2 of them are fine but the others are a bit out.

Hey two of them are 11" apart.
It just has some extras. :D

On some rigs 11" puts the bands on the shoulder or forces you to take the boots off. You can use 11" if you like but I never bothered because I used twin faber 10s.

I wouldn't bother with some of the slots if I was reusing the drawing. We put them in before I realised that Single-Tank-Adaptors are the spawn of Satan.

But you could go in, take a sneaky photo on your phone, measure the dimensions and then scale up on a photocopier......

best wishes,
