how is it when i try to upload my avatar (see YD.) that i get a message saying i cannot upload animated images ? yet i see animated avatars on here, mine is only small (the avatar!) only 30 x 30 pixels and according to its properties is 1.01KB 1037 bytes it also says size on disk is 4.0kb 4096 bytes so to me it looks to be inside the limit (but i do heating not IT !!) I would really like to use this avatar as it keeps my identity accross here and YD so can someone please enlighten me how i get it on.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark

Animations and the larger images are limited to BSAC members, sorry about that.

Mark

To keep your ID consistant you could try converting your animated .gif avatar to a non animated one. there are a couple ways to do it. You could capture a single frame using a screen shot util, or exporting a single frame using a gif splitter.

Alternatively become a BSAC member :D

I can't get my avatar picture down anywhere near 4kb :( why does it need to be so small.

Ignore me, changed it to a gif from jpeg.

Although I would like my little avatar from YD any ideas how I insert that one.

Email me your original avatar and I'll compress it for you if you like.

Hi Mark

I'm trying to work on that system today when I get a chance :) The feedback isn't brilliant (I'm improving it), the instructions were unclear on the profile screen (now changed). You were close - you were a month out with your renewal month! I've corrected it for you and now you're in.

Sorry about that, it's all on my 'To Do' list and I'm trying to improve it. The automatic success rate at present is only around 90%, with the improvements I'm planning that should exceed 99%.

Cheers
