I have been lucky enough to be asked to marry my wonderfull partner(no puking please) and we were wondering about getting married underwater-we are both divers by the way......has anyone in this country ever taken part in such a ceremony or is it only done abroad??If anyone can shed any light on this, we'd be MOST grateful!!!
Cheers~

I've a vague memory of seeing pictures in something like Dive mag, think the couple got hitched in the shark tank at Deep Sea World , Edinburgh, but I wouldn't swear to it.

We stayed in Tralle Bay, near Oban, a few years back (1999 I think) and there were preparations for a wedding to be held on the Breda wreck, out in the bay. I'm sure if you contacted Alchemy Diving, who are actually on the site, they would be able to advise you.
Congratulations by the way, and good luck with the preparations
Kind Regards

Hi Jo, Yes we got married underwater in the UK in 1986. (17 years ago now) Bride & Groom, Vicar, Best Man, Bridesmaid, Brides Usher and 30 Congregation all underwater. Communication was by Kirby Morgan 10s for the Vicar, Bride, Groom and Best man all linked to the surface where it was recorded by local and National TV and Radio. The venue was the Ellesmere Port Swimming pool and at that time we hade to have a civil ceremony in the Register Office the previous day. The point being that at that time only certain places could be used for marriage ceremonies, but I think that has changed now. I'm not too sure but I think locations can be granted a license to hold / conduct marriage services, so you may not have to go through the civil bit first. I hope you will both be as happy as we have been - good luck and have a great day.

This is great.....But why is it that when I started to dive all my club buddies said once I had started to dive I would not stay married for long?
