Dear All
We did a major HQ system upgrade at the weekend that replaced our aging HQ servers with something more up to the job, this is all part of a longer term plan to improve and enhance the electronic services at HQ. Our mail server (amongst others) has been moved and we?ve been experiencing some minor problems with some specific bsac.com email addresses, some of our lists (e.g. the Council list!) are not yet fully operational.
So I?d like to apologise for any disruption and inconvenience, it will take us a few days to sort out these minor niggles. With a change this big a few minor glitches were expected, most people haven?t even noticed we?ve been changing things. It will all be sorted out over the next few days and we can look forward to far greater resilience from our HQ systems and some additional services for you all when we?ve got things bedded down.
Kind Regards

Hi All
We?ve been receiving sporadic reports of some problems with some xxxx@bsac.com email addresses, they are being returned ?The recipient was unavailable to take delivery??. This only seems to affect some of our ?bounce? addresses, those where we collect email for our volunteers (or some mailing lists) and send it back out to them. At present it seems to be Freeserve and Demon that don?t like us. HQ is not affected by this, only some volunteers (like me!).
This is a technical problem beyond explanation here, it?s to do with anti-SPAM measures taken by some ISP?s, we are suffering collateral damage in the war against SPAM. We are however well onto the problem and doing everything we can to sort it out and/or work around it. This is one of those anticipated temporary glitches as an unexpected result of the otherwise very successful weekend upgrade. It will take a few days for things to settle and fixes to work their way around the internet.
Sorry about that folks, these things happen and it?s my job to make sure that we sort them out. I?m working very closely with HQ and helping out where I can, I am confident that we can resolve these minor problems fairly quickly.
Regards

Hi All
We?ve been receiving sporadic reports of some problems with some xxxx@bsac
Lol, That explains why I've been unable to contact Mark Allen (in his capacity as sec RNRMSAA) to show him my website!
BTW, when I selected "last vist" prior to entering this page it showed my last visit as.......01 Jan 1970!
(Thanks for letting us know what's going on)

Hmmm... I wasn't aware that Mark had been affected, thanks for letting me know. We think that we now have at least a temporary fix for it, we hope to have the service restored later today. This problem does only seem to affect a few addresses, the vast majority of our email system is working fine.

We think we've fixed it now, everyones email seems to be working OK. But we may have lost some emails to some addresses over the weekend.
If you have been receiving error messages when trying to send to bsac.com email addresses then can I ask you to resend the message please, it should go through OK this time. If you are still getting problems then can you foward chrish@bsac.com the error message, we'll look into it.
Apologies for any problems, what happened over the weekend was a very major upgrade of our core HQ domain and servers and I fully expected some minor niggles to sort out.
