The Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport (Hants) is well worth a visit! (Link below). They have a large diesel submarine set up as a vistor attraction and you are normally taken through it by retired sub-mariners.

Hi

The Historic Dockyard at Chatham, has one HMS Orca/Ocean or something like that, you can do the tour of. Very impressive Destroyer HMS Cavalier next to it, a very good day out. The Navy Days weekend is even better with lots of other ships on display.

There is a fantastic U-Boat not too far from HQ in Wirral. The u-boat is the U - 534 and it is on dry land and open to visitors with a website below.

If you are ever in Brittany, on the South Coast between Vannes and Nantes, at Saint-Nazaire there is a superb new exhibition about cruise-liners built in the old WWII U-boat bunkers. They have a Sub they give tours on as part of the exhibitions.

Folkestone had a Russian foxtrot Deisel sub, moored alongside the main part of the harbour.

I thought it was great. I think you can even hire it for parties.

If you are going to France and can go via Cherbourg, there is the 'Citie de la mer' which is a large museum dedicated to man's 'little adventures' underwater and includes a full tour of the 128Metre 'Redoutable' - France's first Nuclear sub. Everything is in English. See the web page.
